United Arab Emirates, 28 May 2019 — Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA), the largest industrial company in the United Arab Emirates outside oil and gas, today announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary Guinea Alumina Corporation (GAC) has successfully closed the Republic of Guinea’s largest-ever project financing for a greenfield mining project, in a step forward for EGA’s bauxite mining project and for Guinea’s economy.

Another step forward in GAC’s commitment to skills development and positive socio-economic impact

Kamsar, 21 January 2019 — Guinea Alumina Corporation S.A. (GAC), today announced that it has completed another important step in its “Project 150” programme. Thanks to this US$ 3 million training program, 150 Guinean apprentices graduated with a GAC professional diploma in the fields of mechanics, electrical engineering, mine maintenance and welding. This confirms GAC’s commitment toward skills development and towards making a positive socio-economic impact in the country. Diplomas were delivered in the presence of GAC CEO, Paulo Castellari, GAC Operations Director, Daniel Pop, and El Hadj Tidiane Sylla, Sous-Prefect of Kamsar, as well as other officials and dignitaries.

GAC getting closer to first ore shipment

Tinguilinta, 21 January 2019 — GAC’s first bauxite train left the company’s mine on 15 January en route to the company’s stockpile and facilities located in the port of Kamsar. The 80-wagon train, carrying 6,800 tons of high-grade bauxite ore, took just under three hours to cover the 90 km journey from the mine to GAC’s platform in Kamsar.
