Guinea Alumina Corporation (GAC SA), a major player in the mining sectorin the Republic of Guinea, has announced the inauguration of Bridge 4,which is necessary for work to progress on its platform in Kamsar. 

This bridge, built by GAC through its main contractor Fluor, is 170m-long and 10.5m-wide. It connects the construction site with GAC’s facilities on the Isle d’Taïgbé.

Through this bridge, GAC aims to facilitate the transport of fill materials by itssub-contractor, Colas, as well as the transport of personnel who will undertake the maritime works. This construction work, which began last April, was completed in July, without accident or damage. The inauguration ceremony took place in the presence of representatives from both GAC and Fluor. Steeve Tremblay, vice-president of projects expressed his feelings thus: “This has been atremendous success and a milestone for the GAC project by the Fluor construction teamand with the invaluable contribution of many locally recruited employees. And whilstit is according to be one of GAC’s key objectives, we have been able to realize thisimportant part of the project safely.” As a reminder, the GAC project is the largest mining investment in Guinea in the last40 years, and will significantly boost the Guinean economy With this new initiative, GAC reiterates its determination to maximize its impact on theeconomy of Guinea in general, and that of the region of Boké in particular.
