GAC opens a second bridge at Kamsar

Guinea Alumina Corporation, GAC, a major player in the mining sector of Guinea, announced the inauguration of the second bridge (Bridge 5) necessary for the realization of its project.

This bridge, built by GAC, will connect the area of the main discharge platform to the barge loading facility in the estuary. The inauguration ceremony was attended by Mr. Abdulla Kalban, Managing Director of Emirates Global Aluminum (EGA) and the head of GAC's board of directors: "This is an important stage in achieving our goal of exporting bauxite to international markets.”

As a reminder, last August, GAC inaugurated the 170 meter-long Bridge 4 linking the construction site of GAC’s facilities to the island of Taïgbé, off Kamsar. The completion of Bridge 5 marks an important step in the construction phase and is an integral part of the ongoing construction works towards project completion.

Keith Lawson, Senior Construction Manager, said: "We are all very excited about the progress and it is an honour for all who worked on this bridge that this task was completed safely, responsibly, sustainably and on time."

With this new initiative, GAC reiterates its determination to maximise its impact upon the economy of Guinea in general, and that of the Boké region in particular.
