GAC Announces the Completion of its 2024 Excellence Leadership Program

Kamsar, 10th October 2024 - - - Guinea Alumina Corporation S.A. (GAC) today announced the successful completion of its ‘GAC Excellence Leadership Journey’ training program, which has enabled twenty-six (26) managers to develop essential leadership skills over the past nine months.

Developed in partnership with BTS this leadership journey was designed to promote a strong leadership culture aligned with GAC’s values. BTS – a consulting firm specialising in the human side of strategy – assessed what mindset shifts had to be made in order to turn GAC’s strategies into concrete results.

Damba Camara, Manager Human Capital at GAC, said: ‘Investing in the development of our leaders is critical to ensuring our long-term success. This program prepares ambassadors of our values, capable of motivating and inspiring their teams, while strengthening our culture of innovation and excellence. By investing in their training, we ensure a dynamic of progress and resilience, thus building a promising future for GAC.’

The learning journey ran from February to October 2024 and the participants attended interactive sessions, both face-to-face and online. They systematically gained appropriate tools, skills and mindsets to ensure that meaningful transformation would take place.

During these provocative sessions, leaders were able to step back and assess the impact of their leadership on others. From this position, they were invited to increase their effectiveness by engaging leading with empathy, clarity, coaching and nuanced problem solving.

As a cohort, they have forged powerful relationships with one another enabling them to debate and collaborate more effectively.

This program exemplifies GAC’s ongoing commitment to promoting talent development and building the capacity of its teams.

In parallel, the OMS LEAD Leadership Development Program continues at GAC sites, welcoming a new cohort of approximately thirty leaders. This integrated program combines mining expertise and leadership training techniques, including initial assessments, one-on-one coaching and ‘A Day in the Life’ (DITLO) sessions.

Through these various talent development programs, GAC remains committed to supporting the development of its leaders by providing them with the tools and resources to excel. Every investment in training strengthens the company’s culture of innovation and excellence, while helping to build a strong future for GAC and its teams.
