Guinea Alumina Corporation announces changes to senior management team.

Kamsar, 19 April 2022: Guinea Alumina Corporation (GAC) today announced changes to its senior management team. The company's Board of Directors has appointed Steeve Tremblay as Chief Executive Officer, Youssuff Sylla as Director General, René Désiré Morel as Deputy Director General and Martin Small as Chief Operating Officer, with immediate effect.

Steeve Tremblay joined GAC in 2017 as Vice-President and Project Director and was responsible for the construction of GAC’s mining operations. Once the construction was completed, in 2020, Mr. Tremblay was appointed Project Director of the Minesa Mining project in Colombia. In 2021, he re-joined GAC as Chief Operating Officer, overseeing mine, rail and port operations as well as support services, health & safety, quality assurance, business improvement, information technologies, GAC’s Rapid Growth Program, site security and fuel procurement.

Youssuff Sylla joined GAC as a financial controller in 2014. He has over 20 years of experience across Africa, Europe, and North America, which includes 13 years in the mining sector and five years with a financial institution in Canada. Mr. Sylla worked for Rio Tinto before joining Glencore in the Republic of Congo, where he served in variously as a financial controller, administrative and financial director.

René Désiré Morel joined GAC in 2015 as Government Relations Officer and was promoted to Manager, Government Relations in January 2022. Prior to joining GAC, Mr. Morel held different public affairs positions both in Guinea and the United Kingdom.

Martin Small joined GAC as Senior Manager, Rail and Port Operations in 2017 and played a key role in operational readiness and successful production ramp-up. He was promoted to Director, Rail and Port Operations in 2019. He began his career in the British Armed Forces, where he served for twelve years as a military engineer. In the private sector since 2005, he has successfully delivered various mining export operations and projects in West Africa.

GAC Chairman Abdulla Jassem Kalban said, "As GAC continues its ramp-up, my Board colleagues and I are confident that Steeve, Youssuff, René and Martin are the right people to lead GAC into this new era.”
